Afgelopen zondagavond kwamen Dagmara en Luc (Stichting 100% voor dieren) terug van een weekend heen en terug rijden naar Polen. Ze hadden Silvester, een jonge duitse herder, uit een asiel aldaar opgehaald. De hond zou hier (bij Dogwerk) verblijven totdat duidelijk zou zijn waar hij naar toe zou gaan. Er waren vooralsnog drie mogelijke adoptanten.
Vandaag zijn Dagmara en Luc met Silvester naar België gereden. Het bleek niet de meest ideale match. Ook de adoptant uit Zwolle zag helaas van de adoptie af. De derde adoptant bracht Silvester na ca. één week terug.
En toen maakte ik een karakterschets van Silvester;
Hij heeft geen goede socialisatie gehad. Zo te merken heeft hij meer interactie gehad met mensen dan met andere dieren (incl. soortgenoten). Hij is hoogstwaarschijnlijk ketting hond geweest in Polen en is aldaar loslopend aangetroffen. Zijn leeftijd wordt door een DA geschat op 4 jaar.
De interactie met mensen is momenteel zodanig dat Silvester, als zijnde Duitse herder, graag het overzicht houdt over de ‘roedelgenoten’. Als er mensen (uit de groep) weggaan en/of binnenkomen wordt hij onrustig, neigt hij tot drijfgedrag en neemt daarmee – ongevraagd – de regie in handen.
Silvester probeert van alles uit. Logisch gezien z’n verleden; hem is niet (voldoende) geleerd om maat te houden, commando’s op te volgen en restricties opgelegd te krijgen.
Commando’s kent hij niet, maar hij reageert goed op natuurlijke/basale communicatie (met ’t lichaam) en dus zal het niet al te moeilijk zijn om de inhaalslag te maken. Geduld hierbij hebben is echter een vereiste.
De ideale toekomstige baas van Silvester laat hem z’n (herders-)talenten op een sportieve manier uiten. En neemt (daarnaast) zelf duidelijk -naar de hond toe – het roer in handen.
Een jonge, sportieve vrouw uit Gouda reageerde op de advertentie. Ze heeft al een herder en wil (ook met Silvester) gaan werken. Ze (her-)kent de bovenstaande karaktereigenschappen en begreep meteen dat de hond een baas en bezigheden nodig had. Kortom … een fantastische plek voor Silvester!!
