Op 16 maart jl. werd een begin gemaakt met de uitbouw aan de achterkant van de boerderij.

Frank Diekman – die eind vorig jaar d’r ook bij was toen het dak geïsoleerd werd – ging met een grote slijper door een betonplaat om ruimte te maken voor de uit te graven fundering.

Toen kon het metselen beginnen; eerst met grote blokken, daarna de hoogte in met oude bakstenen om het karakter van de boerderij te behouden.

Het dak ging erop en de vloer werd gestort.

En al snel werd het de ruimte in gebruik genomen;

Zodra de vloer en onderrand van de muren helemaal droog zijn, zal ik ze met ‘Black Varnish’ behandelen. Dit is een deklaag die het schoonhouden van de behandelde vlakken zal vergemakkelijken.

In eerste instantie wilde ik lichtkoepels aanbrengen, maar daar ben ik vanaf gestapt. Het is nu een heerlijke koele ruimte, zeker voor in de zomer. Er valt tenslotte genoeg licht naar binnen via de twee openslaande deuren.
